Recent purchases

I kind of love Hot Topic, especially when they have some great sales going on!

Bazinga! Hoodie ($14.99 (sale), Hot Topic)

I love this hoodie! It's very soft, and well I'm a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory. It's actually a little more vibrant in real life, this picture looks a little dulled down or something. Plus I saved about $30 off of regular price!
Invader Zim GIR Yum Yum T-shirt ($6.99 (sale), Hot Topic)

This fits better than some of the other t-shirts I've gotten from Hot Topic, it's pretty long, and not too snug. Plus GIR! :D And I saved about $17.50 off of regular price! Like I said I love Hot Topic sales!

I want this entire outfit

I have no idea where I would wear it, but I want this outfit. I love the flowy, romantic/boho look of it, and I'm not even a fan of peep-toed boots, there's just something about the colour of the boots matched with the pastels that makes it look so good. I'd probably need to lose $100+lbs before I'd even be able to fit into it! Not to mention the cost, breakdown of the price of each item below the picture.

Top, Skirt, and boots by Emilio Pucci

Available at net-a-porter.com

Total combined cost of this outfit:
Top: $2,520
Skirt: $3,880
Boots:$1,790
Total: $8190

Yeah that's right this outfit if you bought these specific pieces would cost nearly $10 000, not exactly money I have laying around! A girl can dream can't she?

Torrid

I can't say that I've personally ordered from Torrid.com, but I do love the clothing on their website (and in the one store I've been in). Torrid carries cute plus sized clothing, which is pretty rare, as the fashion industry seems to think if you're over a certain size you dress in plain tent-like mumu's or something. Anyway, here are a few selections that I'm really liking right now. One of these years I'll actually have the money to buy something from them, shipping's a bit much for me, as is the case for many stores based in the US.

Nickel Buck Rhinestone Necklace ($14)

I have a thing for antlers on jewelry lately. I don't know what's up with that,
but I think this is a sleek take on the natural shape of an antler.

Red & Black Lace Shaping Slip ($38)

I will eventually own something like this, I keep seeing
this lace and solid black design and I love it every time.

Iron Fist Sinking Ships Bag ($42.00)

I love nautical themed items and this just feeds that love.
It's not too blatant about it either, besides the anchor.

Black & White Polka Dot Ruched Tube Dress ($58)

I have a thing for polka dots. I also really love the wrapped look of this.

Heart Print Challis Tube Top ($38.00)

It looks like a corset top to me, I'm a little addicted to corset tops.
Plus this one has the adorable little white heart print all over it.

Black Lace& Satin Pearl Trim top ($38.00)

I love lace, and I think adding the pearl trim makes this top look more
dressed up. I like the detail of the bow and the jewel under the bust.

White & Black Elbow Sleeve Top ($34.00)

I like the crochet on the sleeve, gives the top a little
bit of an edge while still staying soft.

Red Ruffle Halter Top ($13.99)

I like the shape of this top, and the colour. The ruching would be
good for hiding lumps and bumps. All in all a nice summery top.

My new favorite store and forever21

While I was in my hometown visiting my mom and my boyfriend's family my mom took me shopping at Ricki's, now I went in expecting to find nothing in my size. I had assumed since the store is connected to Bootlegger that they would be the same size-wise (and at Bootlegger their clothing is made rather small, and their jeans certainly don't go up to the size I need). Boy was I wrong. I ended up leaving with quite a few items (which unfortunately are no longer on the website so I can't show you at the moment) including two pairs of pants. I was pleased, especially with having gotten a pair of jeans that actually fit! Ricki's goes up to a size 18 in pants, and their jeans are quite stretchy, so yay! I've spent the last few months searching for jeans (or well, any pants that aren't yoga pants.) As a bonus the entire store was 50% off the lowest ticketed price, so my jeans ended up being $20 down from the original price of $70. I got a couple of tops for $10 - 15 each, and a pair of dress pants for $20.

So I've gone to their website and found a few things I just love! I wish I had the money to go shopping again, but at least I know where to find pants!
Asymmetrical Zip Jacket ($49.99 sale, $89.50 reg, Rickis.com)

I love Asymmetrical jackets, a bit of a biker style. I also really love the colour of this jacket, though it does also come in black.
Cap sleeve Lace Blouse ($19.99 sale, $45.50 reg, rickis.com)

I really love lace, also I think this would be pretty awesome with that jacket.

Velvet Flocked Corset Top ($29.99 sale, $39.50 reg, rickis.com)

I have a thing for anything resembling a corset. So even though this isn't a real corset, the hook and eye detailing is something that really draws me in. That colour blue is also gorgeous with the black floral details the contrast is very nice.

I'm also a fan of Forever21's plus sized options, they don't seem to assume that just because someone is a bit bigger that they dress like an old cat lady which is really nice for a change. Their prices are also very reasonable, which is also rare for plus sized clothing.

Abstract Floral Dress ($27.80, canada.forever21.com)

I love that this has a bit of a kimono look. I have a kimono style dress in my closet that I haven't worn for awhile because it simply doesn't fit anymore (I don't want to get rid of it though, I love it too much). and I like the pattern and colour of this dress and the fact that it looks like it would be stretchy.

Studded Leatherette Mini Skirt ($23.80, canada.forever21.com)

I really want a leather skirt (even if it is fake leather), I don't know why. I like the detailing on this skirt, the studs add a bit more edge to it and the zipper is in an interesting place.

Combat Boots ($47.80, canada.forever21.com)

I've been looking for winter boots, yet I hate winter boots. Loathe actually. But I'm also tired of my feet getting soaked in my runners or flats (Vancouver winters! *grumble*). I love these, I've wanted a pair since I saw a similar pair on Amanda Palmer, my current musical obsession. haha I'm a big nerd aren't I? Also, I have big calves, and I don't know what's up with shoe designers making the calves of boots tiny with no zipper...when the heck did this trend start?

I'd also like to mention that forever21 has some pretty and inexpensive jewelry and hair accessories I've gotten a couple pairs of earrings and a ring, I really like all of them. They were all under $7 as well.

Pyramid Collection Pretties!

I posted a couple of jewelry items from Pyramidcollection.com awhile ago, I hadn't visited the site in awhile so I thought I would go take a look through it again. They have so much gorgeous stuff there, apparel, jewelry, decorative items. Though it seems to be geared more towards the new age group, which I like.

Amethyst Nugget Ring ($27.99)
Genuine Amethyst Ring ($39.98)

I really love Amethyst, it doesn't hurt that it's my birth stone. I think these rings would make great statement pieces in an outfit.

Venetian Scarf Top ($21,99 on sale, $39.95 regular)

I cannot stress enough how much I love this top! How gorgeous would this be with a pair of dark jeans and some cute boots or heels?
Sugilite Crochet Dress ($79.95)

This is such a lovely spring/summery dress, I love the colour and I think the crochet detailing makes it look unique.
Noir Lace Dress ($89.95)

This dress reminds me of old fashioned movie stars, and the 1920's - 30's. It's so floaty and light, but has a seriousness to it as well. It would make a great party dress I think. A bit of a twist on the little black dress.
Iridescent Copper Dress ($89.95)

Love the colours of this! I can imagine it would be very shimmery, and would make a gorgeous party dress, but I think it could also be dressed down a bit, perhaps with a slightly more casual cardigan or jacket.

Turquoise and Paisley Silk Dress ( $29.99, on sale. $69.95 regular)

This dress is beautiful and summery. I love the combination of colours, and the print. I'm dreaming of actual sunlight now, instead of the rain that Vancouver gets during the winter!

My steampunk wishlist

I'm really loving the whole steampunk look lately. I think it's something that could be integrated into and everyday wardrobe without looking too much like you're in a costume, it's all about picking which pieces to incorporate into your regular wardrobe. An steampunk inspired belt or jacket with jeans can look very nice, and adding an interesting hair clip or jewelry piece can add interest to an outfit without being too over the top if worn the right way.

Octoclip ($40, steampunkcouture.com)
Black Urban Victorian Jacket ($200, steampunkcouture.com)
Custom Black & White Steampants ($90, steampunkcouture.com)
Shawna Hofmann Victorian Jacket ($160,fiveanddiamond.com)

Bella Rain Umbrella ($96, fiveanddiamond.com)

Skin Graft Garter Belt ($240, fiveanddiamond.com)
